Biodiesel

Besides the meat, one fin whale has enough blubber to produce between 50 to 70 barrels of oil.  If the quota of 200 whales was filled that could produce between 10,000 to 14,000 barrels of oil per year.  That is nearly 3 million liters per year.  If the oil was converted to biodiesel and sold it would have a market value of nearly 500 million kronur.   Just using the blubber would justify the hunt and make it very profitable. And these figures don't include the blubber from the minke whales.  Just something to think about.

That is interesting. What would be the cost of producing biodiesel from whale blubber?

Add to that all the available land we can use to grow hemp and rapeseed for biodiesel, without affecting our food production and we would have more diesel than we could use.

Blubber is too good to eat to be used af fuel for cars you must be out of your mind.

Finally a good argument for whaling. Still, whaling should not be allowed as long as we don't make the most of the whale we catch.

Excellent idea. This is a question for the minister of industry. What will this production cost, compared to selling it to norway for use there. They use it for oil, soap and cosmetics production there
